Creating impact with design

At Philips, empathy is our source for great design. We’ve been there too, strapped inside an MRI tube, nervously pacing outside a doctor’s office waiting for a diagnosis. Calmly and lovingly soothing our newborns back to sleep. Confidently staring into a bathroom mirror, seeing our best selves smiling back at us.

Designers of a better future

We pour empathy into every product, process and workflow we create. We listen to patients, providers and health systems constantly so that our designs may help them overcome their challenges.

Design principles

Four principles serve as a compass for everything we do: we are transforming insights-fueled, people-centered, and outcome-focused design into better care for more people all around the world.

A century of creating impact with design

The story of Philips Design starts with Louis Kalff in 1925. His vision: Philips improves people's lives by listening closely to their real needs and then creating solutions. This practice is still present in the everyday work of Philips Design. We’re obsessed with the experiences of patients, providers and consumers.
